Market Minis Children's Programs at the Market
We know engaging kids at mealtime is difficult and picky eaters are hard to please. We also know that curious minds and an appetite for the unknown are great tools for converting children into healthy, young consumers!
Our Market Minis program is based off of a national initiative called 'Power of Produce' which helps transform your kids into active market participants through educational activities, demonstrations, interactions with our local farmers, and challenges to try fresh market produce. Take for instance, the “Two Bite Challenge”—a challenge to taste new fruits or veggies, or give familiar ones a second chance. Participants engage in the full farmers market experience by trying new foods, having conversations with farmers, and buying local produce. Fun activities ranging from cooking to scavenger hunts, plantings, hands on food prep, and taste testing. They will also earn market bucks to use towards purchasing items of their choice at the Market. |
Guidelines for Parents
Children up to age 12 can sign up at any point in the Season for the Market Minis program. They will also be allowed to participate in the activities WITHOUT signing up for the program, they just won't be eligible to receive the Market Tokens that are used for purchasing items.
